Another good Music Quiz - 19-10-2009

Where were you when you first saw the album cover to Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band? Or perhaps you never have seen it: one generation’s iconic music can so easily be meaningless to a different audience. Yet I suspect that very few of us don’t have an internal sound track made up of tunes that seemed important or were simply around during the various stages of our lives. The trick is to remember what it was called, who performed it and when on earth was it. (and when you’ve had a couple of pints of Guinness, does it really matter?)

At their most recent music quiz at the Dubliners on 29th September, M&M our resident groovy guys, provided a wide range of multi media questions designed to test the best stocked of musical brains. Using the ESC’s swanky new PA system, the cool cats tormented us with snatches from all our yesterdays; from the sublime to the ridiculous, from Mozart to the Laughing Policeman. The forlorn cry of “where’s the Tamla Motown” from Janet ‘I remember Juke Box Jury’ Drummond was of no avail: the juggernaut that is Jane Griffiths’ team powered to yet another win and was presented with a handsome case of wine by the committee.

Our grateful thanks to Matt and Martyn for another fab fun evening.
