Welcome to the English-Speaking Community Website!
An association for English speakers in Strasbourg
Welcome to the English-Speaking Community (ESC)
The ESC is a network of English speakers encompassing more than twenty different nationalities and offering a wide range of social, cultural and leisure activities in English. Whether you are shy or outgoing, keen on literature or athletic, passionate about cultural events or just happy to share a drink, there will be something for you to enjoy and occasions to make friends.
If you’re not sure of the best way to find out about our activities or to communicate with us, check out our new “Spreading the word” page.
Plus, our calendar will give you an insight on what’s on in the coming months. Keep an eye out and get in touch as some of our events are open to non-members as well.
And of course, we’re always looking for volunteers to join us in organising activities and events. If you have a little time and plenty of enthusiasm then please reach out to us. We’d love to hear from you.
The ESC is a place where all English speakers are welcome to have fun.

President of the ESC

What we’re about ...
Sharing experiences and having fun together!
The ESC is a group for all down to earth and friendly individuals and families to get together for the purpose of socialising. If you want to get out of the house and meet new people, then the ESC is the place for you. For all our get-togethers, it is of course recommended to have a good command of the English language. Whether you are new to the city or have lived in Strasbourg your whole life, if you would like the opportunity to attend our events, then please feel free to …
What we do
We aim to gather for events and share good company. Nights out, barbecues, local walks and other sports activities, monthly coffee mornings, apéros, local cultural outings, book club social meetings, conversation groups are some of the possibilities. Anyone – couples, families and singles – who wants an opportunity to get out and about with like-minded people is welcome.
What’s Up? is back
The ESC’s newsletter, What’s Up?, returns in a new format.
Available as a PDF to read online or download, What’s Up? is published quarterly and contains reports on past events, to jog the memories of those who were there, as well as to show the absentees what they’re missing.
You will find the current edition here.
